Got Questions?

What will our photo shoot be like?

I like to keep my photo shoots relaxed and fun. Not incredibly comfortable in front of a camera? No problem! We’ll take some time and let everyone relax. Great photos come when you are being you, not when you are trying to look like someone in photo! To break the ice, we might do some silly things, or simply talk. For couples, it’s great to talk about the relationship; for families, it can be fun to play a game with small children, or joke around with the older kids. I like to move from spot to spot, changing up the scenery and look of our shoot. If you are bringing several outfits, you can change whenever you are ready (although I will gladly provide suggestions about what outfits may look best in what locations).

But I need ideas! What should I do?

Think about who you are, what you love. Do you love the outdoors? Or old movies? Or cars? Or…? What makes you, you? Or what brings you together as a couple, as a family? We will style your photo shoot around who you are, as an individual, a couple, or a family. That could mean photos at the Swamp, or a picnic in the park. It could mean visiting an old theatre or playing in an open field. The opportunities are endless! If you really get stuck, give me a call. Sometimes just talking it through will bring up ideas neither of us would have thought of on our own!

Where can I have my photos taken?

Anywhere! Photos can be taken virtually anywhere, although, of course, some locations work a little better than others. Great places to do photos include the UF campus, downtown Gainesville (a chic/urban setting), local parks, downtown Alachua (for a vintage feel), and many others! Micanopy is a very cute, romantic setting for family or engagement photos. And don’t forget your own home! There are lots of surprising opportunities around your home for great photos.

What should I/we wear?

Ultimately, you should wear clothes that are comfortable and make you feel great. Think about what you want to portray with your photos – who are you, what is your style? Pick outfits that will complement your location, such as a pair of khaki shorts and solid colored shirt for a photo shoot in the park, or a chic black dress for photos taken downtown. Couples and families should coordinate, but not match – after all, you’re all individuals, aren’t you? Bright, contrasting colors work well on children, while adults tend to look better in more conservative, complimentary colors.

I’ve seen photos of people with chairs, or other props. Do you have/can I bring things like that?

I have a limited set of props that can be used for photo shoots. If you have a specific idea in mind, we will make it work! Props are always welcome and can be as simple as bubbles or balloons for children (and adults!) to umbrellas, bicycles, anything you can think of!

Can I bring my pet?

Yes, you may absolutely bring your pet if the location allows. Please let me know in advance that you are bringing your pet so that I can plan to include it in your photos. Also, please remember to bring things to keep your pet happy too – water, leashes, etc. It is also very helpful to have someone come along with you, to keep the pet busy while we are doing other photos.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes! Gift certificates are available for specific sessions or monetary amounts. Contact Sarah for more information.
